ยง About
Freerk Kalsbeek
I work one layer below where most of the conversation is happening. Thirty years of building across telecom, banking, retail, and agriculture taught me to recognize the shape of a shift before it has a name. It's how my brain is wired, not a methodology I invented.
What CtrlOut is
CtrlOut is where I publish what I see.
Right now that means AI, but not at the product layer. Everyone's talking about AI agents; I'm looking at how agents will carry organizational intent when they talk to each other. Everyone's building AI products; I'm asking what happens to the software business model when the interface becomes a conversation. Everyone's adopting AI; I'm mapping the gap between how organizations think they work and how they actually work.
The name carries a double meaning. Taking control by stepping out. Out of systems that don't fit, out of conventional categories, out of the reflex to build before you've thought it through.
How this works
Publish first. Essays when the pattern is clear. The front door. The thing that compounds. Most of what I make lives here.
Tinker constantly. Proof-of-concepts, architecture experiments, things that work and things that broke. Where the thinking meets code.
Build when the idea earns it. Whisperline exists because the insight into how organizations actually communicate was too important to stay an essay. Most insights don't need a product.
Engage when it fits. If what I write resonates with your problem and I can add something you couldn't get elsewhere, we can think about it together. No services page, no methodology deck. No routine work, no part-time arrangements. You're hiring a brain, not a process.
What I return to
The territories: AI as a thinking partner, agent infrastructure, post-SaaS and conversational-first software, organizational intelligence, AI quality. The essays are where the thinking happens. The concepts are the patterns I've named along the way.
